I don’t like the idea of being buried. I don’t want to mingle with the ground. I am not keen to be part of the vibrancy that emerges when I thoroughly trace the land. Since I first heard it, I am more comfortable with the idea of cremation. I can choose to be scattered in the sea instead of the earth. I had attended such a ceremony in Büyükada years ago.
There is no crematorium in Turkey. In the past there was one in the Zincirlikuyu graveyard which reminds us one day, every mortal will taste death, closed from lack of demand. To be cremated in England is a little cheaper than to be buried. I witnessed a cremation ceremony, receiving the ashes and the ceremony spreading the ashes to the forest. It’s my will to be cremated. The drop off place will be near the sea or the river.
